The ValVet Veterinary Center was founded on March 1, 2004, with the aim of filling the gaps in healthcare for pets on the island of Faial. From day one, we have been committed to providing excellent veterinary services, with availability, innovation, and personalized attention to each animal and its guardian.
We were the first Veterinary Medical Care Center (CAMV) in Faial accredited by the Portuguese Veterinary Medical Association, and we continue to be a local benchmark in the sector. Initially established as a sole proprietorship, the clinic is now managed by the company Campos e Mesquita, CVIF, Lda, with veterinary surgeon Luís Campos, a native of the island and graduate of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Lisbon, remaining in charge of clinical management.
Our mission is to ensure the health, comfort, and quality of life of companion animals, promoting a relationship of trust, ethics, and closeness with their caregivers. We are a small but cohesive and dedicated team, consisting of two veterinarians, a veterinary nurse, and a veterinary assistant.
At ValVet, we believe that animals are members of the family and therefore deserve the best care. We continuously invest in modernizing the clinic, improving our diagnostic tools and treatment capabilities, with:

Founder of Val Vet, he is one of the most recognizable faces in veterinary medicine in Faial. He began his career focused on livestock clinics, but quickly devoted himself to companion animals, an area to which he has been fully committed since 2010.
"Although I focused the beginning of my career on livestock clinics, over time, for various reasons, I had to shift my focus to companion animal clinics. With the opening of our ValVet clinic in 2004, which filled a major gap that still existed on the island of Faial in terms of companion animal healthcare, requests quickly multiplied, with an ever-increasing and diversified workload. From 2010 onwards, I dedicated myself exclusively to this area. I am a native of this land, and I am filled with pride at the recognition we have received over the years, which rewards all our efforts over time. I consider myself a dedicated person, always seeking to solve animals' problems and comfort all those who seek us out. I have acquired skills in various areas so that I can offer increasingly better healthcare to our animals. My main areas of interest are internal medicine and general surgery.
Thank you very much for your trust."
